Welcome New Research Associates

Dr. Yawei Liu and Mr. Ken Jin has joined the China Research Center, and become our new research associates. Dr. Yawei Liu is associate director of The Carter Center’s China Village Elections Project and assistant professor of American history at Georgia Perimeter College. Mr. Ken Jin is Director of the Center for International Training and Services at Continuing Education of Kennesaw State University.

41st Annual Meeting of SEC/AAS

The Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies (SEC/AAS) is a non-political, non-profit scholarly organization dedicated to promoting the study of Asia in the southeastern region of the United States. To that end, SEC/AAS has held (since 1962) an annual three-day conference featuring scholarly panels, teacher workshops, and book exhibits. The year 2002 meeting of the SEC/AAS will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee during the weekend of January 18-20. All those interested are encouraged to join the SEC/AAS and attend the meeting. Asian Studies Development Program National Conference 2002
Location: Agnes Scott College, Atlanta
Submission Deadline: January 15, 2002

Agnes Scott College in Atlanta and the Center for the Development of Asian
Studies at Kennesaw State University are hosts to the 8th Annual Asian
Studies Development Program National Conference on March 14-16, 2002.

Paper and Panel Submissions

On behalf of the ASDP 2002 Program Selection Committee, the Program Chair
welcomes proposals for on specific content and/or teaching
topics in Asian Studies. Proposals devoted to developing considerations
of issues of self, community, and ecology in Asia are especially
encouraged. Other proposals submissions are also welcomed.

Forms for the submission of panel/paper proposals can be obtained
