He earned his B.S. and M.Mgt. in Management Science from the University of Science and Technology of China, and his Ph.D. in Economics and M.S. in Statistics from the Iowa State University. His research on China\u2019s agricultural efficiency and labor markets, as well as health inequality and social determinants of health in China, has appeared in China Economic Review, Papers in Regional Science, Social Science & Medicine, Contemporary Economic Policy, and The Chinese Economy. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Economists Society for two terms (2007-2008 and 2012-2013). He has chaired the China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS) Planning Committee since 2009.
