Li Qi, associate professor of economics at Agnes Scott College, has been selected as a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar, a prestigious national program for U.S. faculty to research abroad. Dr. Qi will spend seven months as a visiting scholar with the China Center of Economic Research at Peking University in Beijing. While there, she will collaborate with experts in public health and economics to study the health care access of China’s migrant workers.

“China has a vast population of migrant workers without access to health care or insurance,” Qi said. “We want to use a field survey to study their healthcare needs and usage patterns. Based on that information, we’ll see what policies would best serve this population.”

Qi also has studied health care access for migrant workers in the U.S., specifically Georgia, thanks to a grant from the National Institutes of Health, and plans to use that research to inform her work on migrant workers in China.
