Chinese Investments in Georgia vs. County Economic Development Authorities
In recent years, three Georgia counties, Coweta, Lamar, and Fayette, have announced multi-million investments by Chinese companies. After the fanfare from these announcements subside, the hard work of attracting a corporate commitment morphs into welcoming a new corporate citizen.
County officials must work with company executives, some of whom are newly arrived in the U.S., on all the numerous details involved in getting a manufacturing and distribution facility built, staffed, and successfully operating. Such details can be daunting to companies already in the U.S., much less to Chinese companies and their executives who are relative newcomers to this country.
The Georgia-China Alliance is pleased to host a panel discussion on these issues with the following economic development professionals:
--Bill Harrison, President, Coweta County Development Authority
--Missy Kendrick, Executive Director, Barnesville/Lamar County Industrial Development Authority
--Matt Forshee, President/CEO, Fayette County Development Authority
This experienced trio will talk about what they have learned in dealing with Chinese companies.
