
“Why the World’s Energy Future Depends on the US & China”

US-China Peoples Friendship Association-Atlanta's 2008 Fall Forum, co-sponsored with the China Research Center, will feature Dr Jay Hakes, Director of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Dr. Hakes is author of the well-received A Declaration of Energy Independence, published by Wiley in 2008. His topic for the forum will be "Why the World's Energy Future Depends on the U.S. and China."
Dr. Hakes received his Ph.D. from Duke University and taught at the University of New Orleans. During the Carter administration, he served as assistant to the Secretary of the Interior. For most of the 1990s, he headed the Energy Information Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Hakes has been Director of the Carter Presidential Library and Museum since 2000.
The forum will be held on Sunday, October 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Mercer University (Atlanta campus), Wooten Auditorium. Parking is plentiful and free. Directions can be found at www.mercer.edu.
