| Expertise: Chinese film & new media Dr. Qi Wang is an assistant Professor in the School of Literature, Communication and Culture, Georgia Institute of Technology. She has a Ph.D in Film and Television from the Univeristy of California, Los Angeles(2008), a M.S. in Comparative Media Studies (2002, MIT), a M.L. in International Communication (1999, Beijing University), and a B.A. in English Literature (1996, Beijing University). Her research interests include issues of historicity, spatiality, and physicality in cinema and new media; Chinese cinema; documentary; Cold War Asian Cinema; dance film. Her articles appear in positions: east asia cultures critique, Journal of Chinese Cinemas, Asian Cinema, and International Journal of Comic Art, etc. She is currently writing a book on contemporary independent Chinese cinema and media and their relationship with (post-) socialist historical memory. She also co-curated the 2008 REEL CHINA Documentary Biennial (New York and Shanghai) and the 2011 Independent Chinese Cinema series at the High Museum (Atlanta). |
