Mr. Schiffman is a veteran journalist who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication at Georgia State University with an emphasis on media in China. He worked for CNN between 1990 and 2011, serving for the last five years of his tenure as Chief Copy Editor at CNN International, where he was involved in various editorial and management issues including network style, hiring, and training. Prior to that, Mr. Schiffman reported for The Wall Street Journal and The Asian Wall Street Journal, including a two-year stint as correspondent and bureau chief in Beijing for The Asia Wall Street Journal. In these capacities he reported extensively on Chinese economic reforms, the role of foreign investment, and Chinese politics and culture at a time of rapid change and turmoil. Mr. Schiffman speaks Mandarin Chinese, and lectures occasionally to academic and community groups.
