Harvard Professor Elizabeth Perry presented “The Resilience of Chinese Communism: Lessons from History” at the Center’s fourth annual lecture. Dr. Perry’s analysis of Mao’s use of Chinese cultural traditions to build a communist political tradition in the early years of Mao’s rule provides a rich context for understanding Chinese politics today. Her presentation was based on research for her forthcoming book Anyuan: Mining China’s Revolutionary Tradition. The event was hosted by the Halle Institute at Emory University. The Center gratefully acknowledges financial support from the Hong Kong Atlanta Trade Office.
